Meopham Parish Council has three main standing committees, along with additional committees, sub-committees and working groups. The members of each Committee and their responsibilities are outlined below.

THE PLANNING AND PROJECTS STANDING COMMITTEE (P&P)

Responsibilities: Kent County Council and Gravesham Borough Council Planning Policy, Community Festivities, Parish Projects, Shopping Parades, Parish Plan, Parish Guide, Police (Crime Reduction), Neighbourhood Watch Schemes, Library Services, Medical Services, Planning Applications, Procedures and Appeals, Housing Issues, Highways and Road Safety, Amenity/Street Lighting, Community Bus, Bus Shelters, Cleansing and Litter Collection.

THE ENVIRONMENT AND AMENITIES STANDING COMMITTEE (E&A)

Responsibilities: Recreation and Sports Facilities and Clubs, Village Halls & Community Centres, Rights of Way, including Footpaths Groups, Recreation Grounds and Playground Equipment, Village Greens, Bye-Laws, Notice Boards, Harvel Pond, Maintenance & Upkeep, Environmental Improvement Schemes, Trees & Community Woodland, Allotments, Village Sign and Flagpole, Grants in aid to Parish Organisations (from 1 April 2012)

Responsibilities: Internal Procedures including Standing Orders, Risk Management, Emergency Plan, Quality Parish Status, Oversight of Accounts and Audit Arrangements, Overview of Standing Committee Budgets and Expenditure, Contracts, Best Value and Review of Administration Costs, Publicity and Media Relations, Parish Website
