What is the parish council's role in planning applications?

The Parish Council is a "statutory consultee". That means that the local planning authority (Gravesham Borough Council) must consult the Parish Council on planning applications within the parish. The Borough Council is obliged to consider the comments made by the Parish Council, but it is not obliged to determine the application in accordance with those views.

The published agendas for Parish Council meetings will show any planning applications subject to formal consultation with the Parish Council.
