Parish Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer Vacancy – Meopham Parish Council
Meopham Parish Council is seeking to recruit a Parish Clerk/Responsible Financial Officer to take over from our current Clerk. This is an exciting opportunity for a community minded and motivated individual, with relevant experience, to undertake this interesting and varied post in supporting a very active parish council.
Meopham is the longest village in England and is a large rural parish with a population of approximately 7000, situated within the Gravesham area of Kent. The Parish Clerk will support 12 parish councillors and manage a small team of part-time staff to ensure the efficient delivery of the council’s services and facilities. The council has five committees reporting into it and is responsible for the management of various assets in the parish.
We are seeking a Parish Clerk who is enthusiastic and flexible, with excellent interpersonal, administrative, financial and IT skills and who can ensure that all key legal, financial and other governance requirements are met.
The successful applicant will either hold, or be willing to give a commitment to obtain, the Certificate in Local Council Administration. Previous local government experience would be advantageous.
This is a part-time role working partly from home and partly in the Parish Office, currently located at Meopham Windmill, working for 30 hours per week. The role will include attendance at a number of evening and daytime meetings in Meopham therefore flexibility on the number of hours worked each week is essential.
Salary: The salary is paid in accordance with the National Joint Council (NJC) Pay Scales. LC2 (£24,982 to £35,745 pro rata). Benefits include enrolment into the Kent Pension Scheme.
